THE

URBAN DOG WALKER

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dog Walker North London

All dogs at The Urban Dog Walker are well cared for and given lots of love and attention plus social interaction with other dogs. We only walk dogs that are well behaved as it is imperative that the dogs all get along and there is a good social dynamic.

We use only positive reward based training and like to implement any training that is being undertaken by you. This is to allow for consistency at all times and reinforcement of good behaviour.

As a dog walker based in North London, we are incredibly fortunate with the amount of beautiful open spaces available to us and we like to take full advantage of this by walking in different locations.

It is as much mental stimulation as well as physical exercise that tires a dog out and makes for a happier, calmer dog.

We can often be found walking in Highgate Wood, Queens Wood, Hampstead Heath, Hampstead Heath Extension, Alexandra Park and Trent Park.

A walk will be a minimum of 1 hour but will often be longer at no extra charge to you.

Collection and drop-off is done in a calm manner with the minimum of fuss and utmost care is taken over travel.

We will transport your dog in our fully air conditioned MPV and the dogs are transported in individual dog crates rather than being put into one large area.

When the weather is wet the dogs are towelled down before being returned home and in hot weather they are given water at the end of the walk.

When walking a new dog we like to obtain as much information as possible from you as to any specific needs that your dog may have.

We take pride in the fact that we only walk a maximum of 4 - 5 dogs at any one time.

You won't find us walking large groups of dogs as we do not feel that this is in the dogs best interest and it can often intimidate other members of the public.

"Happy owners as well
as a happy dog!"

We believe that it is very important that you know what your dog gets up to on their walks which is why we have our own Flickr photo page which is only accessible to our current owners.  This includes photos from the dog walking we have done each week.

Having used dog walkers ourselves, we feel that this is a really valuable way of not only feeling reassured that your dog is being well exercised but also allows an insight into how they are away from home on their walk.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss any specific dog walking requirements.

My earliest childhood memories were spent on a farm in idyllic surroundings amongst ‘Constables’ Suffolk.  There were always lots of farm animals as well as dogs - Jack Russell's, Spaniels, Labradors and Lurchers. I knew that one day I would want to work with dogs and so through our business ‘The Urban Dog Walker’ this is now a reality.

I believe it is very important that dogs are exercised on a daily basis and in small groups in order to keep them healthy both mentally and physically. Exercise is vital to improving a dog’s well-being and muscle tone whilst at the same time helping stave off depression, joint problems and any behavioural issues.

Through exercise, I believe your dog will gain the fundamental skills to enable him/her to lead a full, happy and productive life.

I grew up in one of the few remaining villages left in London called Highgate Village.  Highgate has many beautiful green expanses such as the eastern part of Hampstead Heath plus the historical Highgate Woods and Queens Woods.

Having had dogs in my family for as long as I can remember, I recall - as a child - spending many hours learning the various different breeds.

I recollect with great affection, our two dogs named Morris who was a cross between a Dalmatian and Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Slo Jo, a very cheeky Jack Russell cross.  Most recently we had a lovely Saluki/Whippet who we adopted from a rescue centre.  From our own experience with Lucy, we know how comforting it is to have the services of a good dog walking service.  This affords the owner quality time to enjoy their dog knowing that their pet is being well cared for in their absence.

After years working in the entertainment industry - most recently as a theatrical agent - I decided to leave it all behind and along with David, we set up 'The Urban Dog Walker'.
